The teaser of Bhumi Pednekar’s much-awaited film ‘Bhakshak‘ is finally out. Produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, the film revolves around a journalist and a cop who join forces to expose the heinous crimes against minor girls in a shelter home.

The makers shared the teaser of Bhakshak on Thursday, 18 January, giving a glimpse into the thriller-crime film. While Bhumi Pednekar essays the role of a journalist, it also features actor Sai Tamhankar who portrays the role of a police officer.

Said to be inspired by true events, the film is set to premiere on streaming giant Netflix next month.

Bhakshak teaser uncovers cases of abuse against young girls

As the teaser plays, Bhumi Pednekar, in the role of an investigative journalist, can be seen embarking on a journey to bring to light the heinous crimes against young girls in a shelter home.

The trailer further proceeds how she uncovers reports of girls being physically abused in the shelter home, only to discover more harrowing crimes faced by the young girls. The teaser also gives a glimpse into the challenges that her character faces while fighting against the evils of society as she constantly deals with threats and intimidation.

“A fearless journalist on a mission to uncover the truth against all odds. #Bhakshak, inspired by true events, releasing on 9th February, only on Netflix,” the caption read.

Besides Bhumi Pednekar, the teaser also shows promising performances by actors like Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, and Sai Tamhankar.

About Bhakshak

Directed by Pulkit, the film is a Red Chilies Entertainment production and will be released on 9 February on Netflix.

Earlier, while announcing the wrap of her shoot, Bhumi took to Instagram and shared a picture with the team.

“It has been an emotional roller-coaster, and 39 days later, we wrap #Bhakshak. A film that will always remain close to my heart and the narrative that will continue to give me goosebumps. I feel proud bringing to you a jaw-dropping story of women coming together to fight for justice,” she wrote.

The director, while echoing his thoughts about the film, said that the aim is to shed light on the harsh realities of society and spark conversations that lead to meaningful change.
