Skiing dreams melt as Auli & Gulmarg get scanty snow

The absence of snowfall at premier skiing destinations in the Himalayan towns like Auli in Uttarakhand and Gulmarg in J&K has disappointed wintersports enthusiasts. At Auli, a popular skiing destination near Joshimath in the Garhwal Himalayas, temperatures have been hovering around 8° Celsius, a significant departure from the usual 1° C to 3° C at this time of the year. This has raised doubts about skiing activities in the town once again. The national winter games, hosted by Auli annually, were cancelled multiple times - 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2021, and 2023 - due to insufficient snowfall.
